Career pursuit
The possible careers for doctors are very diverse. In all areas, today's world faces numerous challenges for which new approaches must be invented, explored or developed. Doctors, through their experience of conducting a research project, have acquired the ability to address complex issues, to manage uncertainty, to understand a large number of actors with diverse expectations, to act in environments changing, etc.
Thanks to their skills, doctors are highly qualified professionals able to disseminate the practice of research, innovation and the transmission of knowledge throughout the socio-economic fabric, in France and abroad. abroad, in the public, private and associative sectors, from start-ups to multinational companies, including public administrations and international NGOs.
The field of possibilities is very open, which does not mean that the pursuit of a career after completing your doctorate is without pitfalls. The first key to success lies in a carefully considered professional project, based on a good knowledge of the job market in its fields of activity.
The Habilitation to Direct Research (HDR) is the highest diploma in the French university system.
The HDR recognizes the high scientific level of the candidate, the original nature of their approach in a field of science, their ability to master a research strategy in a sufficiently broad scientific or technological field and his ability to supervise young researchers.
It was created in 1984 by the law of January 26, 1984 (Savary law) to compensate for the abolition of the state doctorate. This diploma allows you to apply for a position as a university professor (after registration on the qualification list by the National Council of Universities), to be a thesis director or chosen as a thesis rapporteur. It is also very strongly recommended for applying for EPST research director jobs.
